A reputable agro-based company located in Yeji, Brong Ahafo has a vacancy for a general manager. The ideal candidate must have a strong business management as well as engineering (production, chemical or mechanical) background with demonstrable production management experience.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the overall management and effective operation of the Kimminic Jatropha Extraction and Biodiesel Plant
- Ensures effective ongoing management of the plant operation including the jatropha pressing, fertilizer production, oil pre-refining, bio-diesel production, and power generation
- Provides support in the preparation, coordination & execution of equipment purchases & delivery receipt from selected manufacturers for the jatropha pressing, fertilizer production, oil pre-refining, bio-diesel production, and power generation
- Provides support in the preparation, coordination and implementation of the plant construction including the jatropha pressing, fertilizer production, oil pre-fining, bio-diesel production, and power generation
- Ensures ongoing communication and coordination with the Site Project Manager (PM) and the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) during project implementation, project commissioning, and start-up operation
- Assists in the selection and development of all other technical personnel in Ghana for the mechanical press and pre-fining, the bio-diesel production and the power generation
- Prepares, ensures & co-ordinates effective & smooth transitioning from plant commissioning to regular plant operation
- Ensures and coordinates adequate vendor training and ongoing development of all key technical personnel
- Assists the global marketing team to develop strategic market partnerships and manage key customers and distribution partners
- Oversees the work of the local marketing management team
- Ensures ongoing communication to top management in all strategic affairs
- Maintains effective external relations with shareholders, strategic partners and affiliates of the corporation
Required Skills or Experience
- First degree in mechanical or chemical/biochemical engineering and second degree in Business Administration with operations management experience
- Minimum of 10 years post qualification management experience in a similar position in the oil extraction and/or refining industry
- Experience with oilseed extraction processes and their operation is a definite asset
- Understanding of the oil extraction processes and associated chemical input requirements
- Understanding & skills in the petroleum industry quality control procedures & computerised control systems
- Understanding of preventative maintenance management
- Understanding of operations scheduling and transportation logistics (facility to port logistics)
- Strong interpersonal, team and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of individuals at multiple levels
- Ability to analyze information, plan and to define and solve problems
- Ability to build sustainable community and business unit level relations
