Golden Star Resources (GSR) is a growing mining Company with two operating mines in Ghana, Golden Star (Bogoso/Prestea) Limited and Golden Star (Wassa) Limited and other projects at various stage of development.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the mining crews by developing work and resource plans (people and equipment) and targets consistent with the overall project mining plans;
- Develop plans and implement strategies achieve production targets as measured by mining key performance indicators (KPIs);
- Ensure strict compliance with safely and operational procedures and systems in a pit;
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements and legislation;
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical knowledge and support to improve mining efficiency
- Communicate shift performance and other relevant information to team members;
- Develop and mentor employees to ensure a pool of skilled employees are available; and
- Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by Supervisor
Required Skills or Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering with at least six (6) years hands-on experience;
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of open-pit mining operations;
- Good knowledge of mining regulations;
- Excellent safety awareness and people management skills;
- Effective planning skills both work and resources (people and equipment)
- Proficient in technical report writing;
- Must be computer literate;
- Excellent communication skills and a good team player;
- Work with minimum supervision;
- Must possess a valid Ghanaian drivers' license
