ASHESI UNIVERSITY LATEST JOB VACANCIES IN GHANA: RECRUITMENT FOR STUDY ABROAD COORDINATOR (VACANCIES IN GHANA 2011)

Job Description
Ashesi University is looking to hire a Study Abroad Coordinator. Reporting to the Registrar, the successful applicant will be responsible for managing all student service functions associated with study abroad and exchange programs. This will include providing study abroad advising, programme promotion and management, and cross-cultural training.
Duties:

  • Develop and implement informational presentations to students interested in studying internationally
  • Define and set criteria for qualification into study abroad programmes based on the requirements for each programme
  • Receive and assess applications for approval into Study Abroad programmes
  • Review credits and recommendations before students can be welcomed into the programmes
  • Adequately prepare students and equip them with all the necessary information before they travel
  • Assist with all protocol arrangements that will ensure that they travel smoothly in and out of Ghana
  • Frequently communicate with students to confirm class schedules and grades, inquire about experiences to ensure students are adapting to the changes well
  • Arrange for visits to places of interest
  • Provide advice to students wishing to leave school to study internationally
  • Work with incoming students from other countries who will be studying at Ashesi including advise on course offerings, academic requirement as well as providing all information that they need before their arrival
  • Act as advisors to foreign students during their stay in Ghana
  • Responsible for managing any student workers in the study abroad office
  • Maintain records of placement activities and prepare special reports and analysis illustrating current employment trends and appropriate recommendations for the necessary consideration
  • Manage and update the Study Abroad section of Ashesi’s website
  • Contribute to the creation of office publications as assigned
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in International Business, International Relations or related fields
  • At least two years working in a study abroad programme, student services or intercultural training
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking
  • Demonstrated ability in use of Information Technology
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and organization skills
  • A strong sense of ethics
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks on schedule
