The National Inspectorate Board is a newly-established agency of the Ministry of Education mandated by Parliament under the 2008 Education Act (Act 778) to provide an independent external evaluation of the quality and standards in basic and second cycle educational institutions in the country, both public and
private. The main objective of the Board is to provide a diagnosis of what a school must do to improve.In order to carry out its functions, the Board intends to constitute inspection panels that will undertake supervision and inspection visits to the schools focusing on:
- The quality of leadership and management in the schools
- The quality of teaching and learning
- The standard of academic achievement
- The academic, physical, and recreation facilities available
- The system of internal and external examinations
- The values emphasized and taught, and
- The parental and community involvement in the schools
Job Description
The Board is now recruiting Lead Inspector for the inspection panels.
Job Duties:
Job Duties:
- Lead the inspection panels on inspection field work
- Write school inspection reports from field data
- Coordinate the work of inspection panel members
- Provide evidence based assessment of assessment of school of improvement needs
- Follow-up on implementation of recommendations for school improvement
- Collate and analyse field reports for the attention of the Chief Inspectorate of Schools
- The remuneration package attached to the position is attractive
Required Skills or Experience
- Minimum of a Master's Degree from an accredited Tertiary Institution in an educational related field
- Minimum of 8 years post qualification relevant work experience in a reputable institution, 4 years of which should be in a senior management position
- Teaching experience will be an advantage
- Good report writing skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Good knowledge of the Education system in Ghana
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- Awareness and/or interest in gender issues and concepts
- Good computer skills (SPSS, NVIVO and statistical software)
