Democratic Governance Advisor Long Term Consultancy
The Canadian High Commission seeks to engage the services of a Democratic Governance Advisor who will provide professional, technical, strategic and advisory support to the CIDA Ghana Program team.
The Canadian High Commission seeks to engage the services of a Democratic Governance Advisor who will provide professional, technical, strategic and advisory support to the CIDA Ghana Program team.
The Consultant must be a Ghanaian citizen or a current resident in Ghana for a minimum of twelve (12) consecutive months. Any non-Ghanaians citizen will be required to provide a valid residence and work permit
Status: Full Time Consultant (up to 20 days/month)
Duration: 2 years (24 months)
Scope of Work:
The Democratic Governance Advisor will work closely with the Ghana Program Governance Team to provide analysis and advice on democratic governance issues and programming in Ghana.
Required Skills or Experience
Minimum requirements:- Masters degree in international development, planning, political science, sociology, or related field; or satisfactory combination of undergraduate degree and related work experience
- Minimum of ten years experience related to democratic governance programming including a minimum of five years focused on civil society organisation's role in democratic governance
- Knowledge of Ghana democratic governance institutions, actors, and trends
- Knowledge of international development project management
- Strong oral and written English
- Experience in preparing and providing analysis and advice to senior management
- Experience related to democratic governance institutions such as parliament, local governments, or independent governance institutions
- Experience in negotiating positions in multistakeholder committees or working groups
- Knowledge of gender analysis and gender equality integration in democratic governance policies and programs
- Knowledge of results-based management of development programs and projects
- Knowledge and/or experience relating to one or more of the following sectors: water and sanitation; food security and agriculture; public sector reform; decentralization; environment
- Experience providing advice to the management of bilateral development partners on policy dialogue and/or program management
