Job Position Description:
Summary
Innovations for Poverty Action, a non-profit that specializes in evaluations of development programs, is seeking a Project Manager for immediate hire.  The Project Manager will assist with implementing and evaluating a health promotion program.  The position will be based in Tamale, with travel between 10 project site locations in the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions.
Job Description

The Project Manager will:
  • Work on the Communications for Development (C4D) Impact Evaluation project.  The C4D program will be launched in late 2011 to increase awareness of common health problems in Ghana and reduce the risk of diseases and death, particularly for children under five. 
  • Manage the survey field work for this project, including planning, logistics, hiring, training, supervising daily survey activities, and monitoring. 
  • Also maintain records, including tracking surveys, surveyor attendance, and project expenses. 
  • Also assist with budget making, project design and planning, relations with partner organizations, and other tasks as needed.  In general, the Project Manager is responsible for maintaining high quality data collection. 
  • Report to the Project Coordinator.  The duration of employment will be initially 1 year, with the possibility of an extension for one year more contingent on employee performance and the project being approved for continuation.
  • Must be able to independently manage a survey team in the field and contribute to the design and planning of this research project
Required Skills or Experience
  • A degree from a 4-year university
  • Knowledge of research methods
  • Strong math skills
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates good judgment in the field
  • Is highly personable, and able to work effectively with supervisors, the survey team he or she is managing, and representatives from our partner organizations.  
  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email
  • Fluency in Dagbani
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions.
The following are highly desired:

  •  Experience with survey data collection
  • Experience with health care in Ghana
  • Experience with cash, finances, and budgeting
  • Experience in program operations, planning and logistics
  • Fluency in additional languages used in the Upper East and Upper West Regions.
