SAFE WATER NETWORK (SWN) is a not-for-profit organization that addresses one of the most significant global challenges facing current and future generations - access to safe water, a critical global issue and pressing global health challenge impacting more than 1 billion people.

Job Position Description:
SAFE WATER NETWORK has been awarded a grant by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to undertake a market and feasibility assessment to determine the most appropriate market based sustainable and scalable water and hygiene solutions for rural communities in Ghana. SWN therefore seeks a highly skilled and motivated Program Manager to lead this initiative.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop, lead and organize an effective strategy and work plan for executive the program consistent with the project proposal  and monitor progress against plan including milestones and budgets
  • Develop and implement the relevant program initiatives, impact evaluations and case studies and understand and capture results of the various studies to be performed in connection with the program
  • Lead the assessment and engagement of consultancies, organizations, research firms, academic institutions, local NGOs and financing organizations to execute the objectives of the grant
  • Develop TOR's for short and long term consultancies in collaboration with the Country Director and in line with the requirements of the grant
  • Perform analysis and research in key program areas such as demand generation, marketing strategies, health and hygiene education, financing, economic models and scale strategies
  • Engage stakeholders across sectors including government agencies, corporate, and NGOs
  • Support the development and documentation of solutions that can be scaled, and identify scale strategies
  • Coordinate the activities of all other implementation partners
  • Collate reports from partners and consolidate for submission to the donor
  • Manage program files and ensure interim and final reports and other deliverables, are submitted in line with agreed timelines
  • Organize forums to showcase the results of the work, disseminate learning's and build support within the sector
  • Assume other assignments as may be deemed necessary for the successful and effective implementation of the program
Required Skills or Experience
  • Masters degree in Social Sciences; Financial Management, Public Health, Environmental Science, Market Research, Business or Economics from a reputable institution. A minimum of 8-10 years experience in related activities with a minimum of five of those in the Water Sector and three in a position of team leadership/management
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience and proven track record of managing rural engagement/assignments/social work in villages or service operations
  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth
  • Knowledge of Ghana's political, regulatory, social, cultural and business practices as well as exposure to international markets
  • Proven ability to deliver on time and within budget
  • Ability to operate in a start-up environment, requiring a highly focused but appropriately flexible exercise of resources and judgment
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to be both a team leader and team player to work with people of varied backgrounds
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and carry out multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proficiency in computer applications - Word, Excel, Microsoft Project
  • Capable of delivering reports of the highest quality and standards
