Job Position Description:

African Barrick Gold's Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced Project Geologist: Exploration to systematically collage, organise and interpret all relevant geological data from all Barrick leases around the Bulyanhulu Gold Mine with the Objective of defining, ranking and testing prospective drill targets in the most safe and cost-effective manner possible.

• A strong emphasis is placed on safety, meaning the incumbent needs to provide leadership to ensure standards are upheld and will give training in this regard.
• Functions are definitely varied, ranging from the design, preparation and supervision of surface and undergound drilling programmes to the preparation and management of exploration budgets. The Mine's Geographical Information Systems (GIS) must be continuously Improved

Required Skills or Experience

• In order to apply, candidate will need a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Geology ( a postgraduate qualification, eg. Honours, will be preferred), plus a minimum of 5 years' exploratory experience.
• The role demands experience in exploratory techniques involved in grassroots exploration, through to advanced drill-out, as well as experience in various drilling methods (AC, RAB, RC, DDH) and techniques, including exposure to semi-directional and/or directional drilling
• A thorough knowledge of GIS, with extensive knowledge of Arcview GIS software, intermediate Datamine skills and knowledge of Access/SQL databases, is also needed. Our ideal candidate is a clear and concise communicator (both in writing and verbally) with supervisory experience
