IBIS LATEST JOB VACANCY IN GHANA : RECRUITMENT FOR PROGRAMME COORDINATOR- AFRICA AGAINST POVERTY (VACANCIES IN HANA 2011)

Company Profile
IBIS is an International Non Government Organization which has been operating in Ghana since 2002. Our Africa Against Poverty Programme (AAP) started in 2006 and this 3rd Phase is scheduled to run to 2014. The goal is to address global structural causes of poverty and to collaborate with others - both nationally, regionally and internationally - to spark activities that influence policies and strategies that eliminate poverty.

Job Description
IBIS is seeking a Programme Coordinator who will be responsible for implementing AAP in Ghana and supporting activities and projects that related to programme objectives at national and regional level. Specific attention will be placed on extraction of oil, gas and minerals, tax justice, governance, gender, education.

The Role;
  • Not only will you implement the AAP programme in Ghana but be able to develop, extend & forms strategic linkages both nationally and internationally in accordance with IBIS policies
  • Build and manage a portfolio of strategic partners & strong networks that are capable of influencing programme objectives
  • Access partner potential, develop plans, review proposals, monitor performance and develop capacity
  • Manage budgets establishing adequate accounting, monitoring and reporting mechanisms
  • Ensure adequate communication, information and reporting systems operate at all levels
  • Strengthen the synergy between AAP programme areas and other programmes in Ghana
  • Support sub-regional advocacy processes and activities - especially in extractive - and represent IBIS in relevant meetings
  • Share experiences & learning and develop guidelines & standards e.g. ECOWAS, regional networks based in Ghana, IBIS programmes in Africa and Latin America

Required Skills or Experience
  • Master's level degree or equivalent level in understanding a development context
  • At least four years experience of advocacy work in the areas of extractive industries, governance or social accountability
  • Specific knowledge in the area of extractive industries, political economy and tax related issues
  • Work experience with civil society organizations and international development organizations
  • Commitment to IBIS values including gender, social justice and team working
  • Good relationship building & persuasion skills including the ability to influence policy & steer groups
  • Flexible to quickly adapt and respond to new emerging issues and projects
