Job Description
- Responsible for generating income for the radio station from advertising sales and sponsorship
- Establish and develop long-term business relationships
- Source, identify and secure new business opportunities
- Generate creative solutions for clients
- Develop and present proposals
- Commission research and interpreting data about radio markets and audiences
- Maintain contact databases for the station
- Design and implement innovative promotional campaigns and events that engage audiences and meet client needs
- Develop the station’s relationships with audiences and clients; and ensuring consistent communication in all marketing/sales output
- Maintain records, producing reports and accurate forecasts of revenue
- Assist with the resolution of problems about payments and revenue collection.
- Ensure that their work complies with media law, regulation and industry codes.
Required Skills or Experience
- Ability to work long hours, juggling many clients and prospects, knowing how to priorities, and meeting exacting targets and deadlines
- Ability and desire to sell and attention to detail
- Ability to think creatively and generate original ideas
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the radio market, different station and programme styles, and audience demographics
- Familiarity with the increasing range of communications platforms, and how they can be used in advertising and marketing campaigns
- The confidence and tenacity to pursue leads, overcome obstacles, and secure deals
- Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, react quickly, and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent research skills, and the ability to interpret data and make the information accessible for non-specialist colleagues and other stake holders
- A thorough knowledge of the law, ethics and industry regulations as they affect radio sales
- At least a tertiary degree
